Itinerary for: Prague Vienna & Budapest 2010 (CPVB)

Day 1:

Welcome to Prague. After check-in, time to relax. Later, we will enjoy a Welcome Drink and dinner with our Tour Director and travelling companions. (Dinner) 

Hotel: Hilton

Day 2:

This morning our guided walking tour includes a visit to St. Vitus Cathedral and features Prague Castle, the old town square and the romantic Charles Bridge. Then there is free time to shop for bargains in Bohemian crystal or to explore independently. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 3:

A full day at leisure and there is so much to see and do, perhaps take a cruise along the Vltava River or visit one of the castles on the outskirts of the city. In the evening perhaps drink some refreshing Pilsen beer or attend an opera performance in one of Prague’s many theatres. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 4:

Today via Brno, one-time headquarters of Napoleon, we head to Lednice Castle, to visit the Italianate Gardens. Then we cross the border into Austria to Vienna. Tonight, why not take a stroll through the Prater Park and take a ride on the famous big wheel? (Buffet breakfast)

Day 5:

Today’s guided sightseeing tour shows us the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament Buildings, the Opera House, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and we take a walk through the oldest part of the city. Today our Tour Director will also show us one of the Hidden Treasures of this fascinating city. Later time is your own to maybe take a trip into the Vienna Woods. Tonight, we enjoy a Highlight Dinner of Viennese specialities at a ‘Heurige’, a local wine tavern situated just outside Vienna. (Buffet breakfast / Highlight dinner)

Day 6:

Enjoy a full day at leisure. Perhaps shop in the Kärntnerstrasse, visit beautiful Schönbrunn Palace or visit Vienna’s more unusual museums such as the one dedicated to Sigmund Freud who taught at the university for many years. Later, maybe treat yourself to coffee and a delicious pastry in a typical Viennese coffee house or take in a concert of Strauss music? (Buffet breakfast)

Day 7:

It’s not long before we are in Hungary. We drive along the route known as the Danube bend with its quaint old villages and orchards. Here we stop at Esztergom and see its fine cathedral, castle and St. Tamas Hill before following the Danube to Budapest. Tonight, why not enjoy a Danube cruise
to see this beautiful city by night? (Buffet breakfast)

Day 8:

Today’s sightseeing includes a walking tour of old Buda which shows us among other monuments, the Matthias Church and Fishermen’s Bastion. Later we also see the Great Synagogue and Heroes’ Square. Then free time to shop for Hungarian embroidery, and tonight maybe sample Hungarian
specialities in a local restaurant to the accompaniment of traditional gypsy style music! (Buffet breakfast)

Day 9:

A full day to relax and enjoy the sights or perhaps indulge in some spa treatments at one of the Turkish baths. Tonight, join your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a Farewell Dinner with wine in a local restaurant. (Buffet breakfast / Farewell dinner)

Day 10:

Bid farewell to new-found friends and your Tour Director at the end of your tour. Your Trafalgar Tour Director organises a transfer to Budapest Airport to arrive at approximately 07.00 and 11.00 for your return flight home, conditions apply. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 11:

Visas may be required for this tour, please speak with your travel agent at the time of booking to assess your specific requirements.

Free airport transfers:

Transfers on Day 1 at Prague Airport will operate at 09.00, 11.00 and 13.00. Passengers arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel. Return transfers on the last touring day will arrive at Budapest Airport at 07.00 and 11.00.
