Day 1:

A warm welcome from our Tour Director as we drive to Dover and admire the White Cliffs on our ferry crossing to Calais in France. Then on by coach through Belgium’s Flanders fields to Holland and on to lively Amsterdam. A short orientation on arrival shows us Dam Square and the Tower of Tears. (Dinner)

Day 2:

This morning we cross the great rivers of Dutch history to the German border. Next into lower
Saxony via Osnabruck and Hanover as we drive along the route once known as the Berlin Corridor to our Berlin hotel. Berlin’s nightlife is famous…you may wish to sample some of it for yourself this evening. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 3:

Today’s sightseeing includes this fascinating city’s main points of interest including the Brandenberg Gate, Unter den Linden Boulevard and points out the area that was the Berlin Wall. Later, why not take the option to visit nearby Potsdam? (Buffet breakfast)

Day 4:

We drive through the Spreewald Forest to ‘Florence on the Elbe’ – Dresden. Here an orientation shows us the Zwinger Palace, Semper Opera and 18th century cathedral. On through Swiss Saxony to the Czech border and ancient Prague. Tonight, why not enjoy an introduction to Prague with a trip through the old city? (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 5:

Our morning sightseeing features Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral and the old town square. Later, with time on your own, why not enjoy a lunch cruise on the Vltava River – Smetana’s ‘Moldau’? (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 6:

This morning our journey takes us from the Czech Republic into Slovakia and the capital
city of Bratislava. Here we have time to take a walk through the old town to see the medieval town hall. Then we follow the Danube Valley into Hungary through the fruitgrowing area before arriving in Budapest, the capital city. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 7:

The main sights of Buda and Pest are featured on our sightseeing tour. We see the Fishermen’s Bastion, Gellert Hill, Heroes’ Square, the Church of St. Matthias and the Royal Palace. Later, there is leisure time to perhaps take an excursion to Szentendre, and shop for embroidery and pottery. After dark, why not take a cruise on the Danube to admire the illuminated bridges and monuments of this attractive city? (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 8:

This morning after breakfast our first stop is at the historically rich town of Györ. Then we cross over the border at Hegyeshalom for the short journey into Austria and soon arrive in the musical city of Vienna. This evening why not soak up the culture of this elegant city by taking in a concert of classical music? (Buffet breakfast)

Day 9:

Our sightseeing tour includes a drive along the Ringstrasse with views of the Opera, Parliament, Hofburg and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Next there’s time to perhaps shop in Kärntnerstrasse, take a trip to Schönbrunn Palace or sample some Sachertorte for which Vienna is so famous! (Buffet breakfast)

Day 10:

We enjoy a scenic day as we travel along the Danube Valley and through the beautiful alzkammergut to Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace. Here an orientation tour shows us the Mirabell
Palace, formerly the home of one of the prince bishops and perhaps familiar as it was used in the film The Sound of Music. Then it’s but a short journey to fun-loving Munich for the night. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 11:

Orientation in Munich includes views of the Marienplatz, the town hall with its Glockenspiel clock and the Olympic complex. Next we travel on the Romantic Road to medieval Rothenburg. On arrival we see the fortified walls which surround the town, then have time to shop for handmade Christmas decorations before continuing on to our Rhineland hotel. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Hotel: NH Weinheim

Day 12:

We start the day with a relaxing cruise along the Rhine River with views of medieval castles and terraced vineyards. On through Koblenz to Cologne where we have time to see the impressive twin-spired cathedral which is the symbol of the city. Next we’re off to Belgium at Aachen skirting around the Ardennes to its capital Brussels. Here an orientation shows us the cheeky little statue known as the Manneken Pis and the spacious Grand Place, the main square of the city. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 13:

We drive through Flanders to France and the port of Calais where we board our ferry back to England. After we disembark we return to London by coach, and it is time to bid farewell to our Tour Director and newfound friends as our tour of Europe comes to an end. (Buffet breakfast)
